2026 STAR Quiz Night

We’re delighted to confirm the details of the STAR Curry & Quiz Night, to be held on the evening of Saturday March 7th at the Scout Hut on Rugby Road.
The evening will begin with the doors opening at 7pm for a welcome drink, with the Quiz (featuring a mix of general knowledge, music and other topical questions to test your quizzing skills) starting at 7:30pm.
You can reserve your places at the STAR Quiz Night using this online form, after which you will receive an email confirmation with STAR’s bank details so you can pay the entry fee of £15 per person by bank transfer.
Tickets are sold on a first come first served basis, and you are welcome to enter either as a ready-made team of 6-8 friends and neighbours, or individually in which case we will be making up tables allowing you to meet and get to know some more of your neighbours from all across our 10 roads. If there’s someone you’d like to be seated with please let us know by email and we’ll do our best to arrange it.
STAR will be providing a welcome drink, as well as starters and a main meal of curry to serve as “brain food” during the evening to help ensure everyone is in tip-top quizzing form. We’ll be emailing all of our Quizzers to ask for your main meal preferences (Meat or Veggie, or a Non-Curry option if preferred) a couple of weeks before the Quiz so we can make sure we have enough of each to go round.
Due to licensing restrictions we are unable to sell alcoholic drinks on the evening, so please feel free to Bring Your Own Bottle of alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic drinks to consume yourself and/or share with your team mates.
If there are any budding “STAR Bakers” out there who would like to help out by conjuring up some Indian-themed sides, or some cakes for dessert we’d love to hear from you too. We will cover the costs of ingredients if you are keen to share your samosa-making or muffin-baking prowess with the neighbourhood. If you are interested in helping out just drop us a line at info@starchiswick.com.
We look forward to seeing you at the STAR Quiz Night on Saturday March 7th.

STAR End of Summer Party – closing out the summer in style!
A big thank you to everyone who helped make this weekend’s End of Summer Party such a great event.
Whether you were a cake maker, tombola-dipper, teddy-bear adopter, musician, Pot Luck food & drink donator, popcorn-cruncher or kids entertainer – or even just a raffle-ticket buying, burger-and-cake-eating Pimms drinker – everyone contributed to a fantastic afternoon to round off the summer in proper STAR style.
We’d also like to thank all of our supporters and sponsors, not least Killik & Co and CORE London who both generously acted as sponsors for the overall event and helped us underwrite our running costs for the day.

We also had incredible support from many of Chiswick’s local businesses who donated a truly mind-boggling array of raffle prizes – The Hogarth Club, Sam’s, Marmalade Jewellery, Oddonos, The George IV, Luminis, Snappy Snaps, Macken Brothers, Damsel, Headliners Comedy Club, Putt In the Park, The Chiswick Fishmonger, Fresh As A Daisy, Lemon & Limes, Klassi Hair, Aram Picture Framers , Tottles, Postmark, The Hound, Greige, Snap Dragon, Space NK, Wheelers Of Chiswick, Meraki, Wyndhams, Amorino, The Roebuck, Mayfive, The Tabard, Omnia Lifestyle, Churchill’s Pharmacy and Hair @No. 3 – so if you do have the opportunity to support them in turn that would be much appreciated too.

A special mention also must go out to Rozie, Head Baker & owner of Rozies in Devonshire Road for being the “celebrity judge” for our first ever STAR Baker Competition.
The standard of entries was incredibly high for both Adults & Kids categories, and we’re pretty sure that Rozie may well be asking Massi, Elliot, Beatrix and Georgina if they can teach her and her team their secret recipes next time they drop into her shop on Devonshire Road!
As a result of the party we will also be able to make a material donation to our local charity, W4 Youth, supporting their efforts to open a community centre in Southfield Park.
Look out for more STAR social events and community activities later in the year.

(The Teddy Bear Adoption stall – a great hit at the party!)

STAR Swap Shop Day
Saturday, June 14th saw our first ever neighbourhood “STAR Swap Shop Day”!
2025’s first Swap Shop Day saw residents across our neighbourhoodputting out stuff that they no longer needed, but which was “too good to throw away” out for other people in the neighbourhood to take and give new homes to.
No money exchanges hands, everything was freely offered and free to take – and it seems that a greay many cupboards, sheds and storage boxes were raided and a great many “pre-loved” items were found new owners.
We’ve also now added a “Swap Shop Group” to the STAR WhatsApp Community so we can all continue to find new grateful owners for your pre-loved items in future too.

VE Day Street Party – 5th May, 2025
Even with a little less sunshine than perhaps we’d all been hoping for, the STAR street party to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day was a roaring success with well over 200 people attending throughout the day.
The tables were groaning with a fabulous selection of food and drink contributed by people from across our neighbourhood, we had 1940s tunes playing out across the street (including a live violin recital from our local musical maestro Orpheus!), and enough games, face paint and pavement chalks to keep even the most active of youngsters occupied while the adults tucked in and chatted all afternoon!
Here are a selection of photos from the day, reproduced from the STAR WhatsApp Community group.

Local resident Peter Lomas also created a mini-newspaper with stories from the neighbourhood harking back to events taking place in our area during the war, including on the original VE Day in 1945.
You can download a copy here:
We’d like to thank everyone who came along and helped make it such a lovely day in which our whole community came together to contribute food, drink, gazebos, games for the kids, music, and much more – with special thanks going out to all of you who helped with planning, setting up and (not least!) packing everything away at the end of the day too.
There were (of course) a few things left behind at the end, so if you are missing a particular plate, piece of tupperware, or that vital plastic component of a much-loved kids game, please do get in touch at info@starchiswick.com and we can try and reunite you with anything that may have gone astray.

STAR Quiz Night – March 2025
Our very first STAR social event of the year took place on March 1st in the Scout Hut on Rugby Road, with a “sold-out” attendance of over 60 keen quizzers (and even keener socializers!) taking part across the evening.

A great set of questions from our Quizmaster Nick kept everyone on their toes throughout the evening – including a couple of Chiswick-specific rounds.
See if you can spot these Chiswick locations and Chiswick connections in these images from one of our picture rounds !

Everyone we managed to speak to at the event really enjoyed the whole evening, and especially the opportunity to meet a few more of our neighbours – underlining yet again what a vibrant and friendly community we have here in the 10 roads of the STAR catchment area.
We’ll certainly be planning another evening of quizzing later in the year – so stay tuned!
